Congrats Rojae Blair, HealthWorks 360 Allstar!
HealthWorks 360 (HW360) is a model that is all about enhancing patient care access in our health centers. We are honored to celebrate our newest HW360 Allstar, Rojae Blair, for making a difference every day at our East New York location by helping patients scheduling visits with their providers. We sat down with him to learn why East New York is so special.
Q: How long have you worked at Housing Works?
A: I started at Housing Works over six years ago. I was an intern, then began a Community Partnerships liasion, and now I'm the Scheduling Specialist at East New York.
Q: Where are you based?
A: I've been at East New York since I started.
Q: What's a fun fact about you?
A: Probably my personality. I'm a cool and calm person, so people gravitate towards me.
Q: What's one thing you like about working at Housing Works?
A: The commute because I live close by! I also like that we are a family here. We get along with everyone.
Q: What's your approach to helping patients schedule visits?
A: If a patient is in person, they come to me directly at the front desk, and I'm ready to help. I like to check out their chart to see what kind of visit they may need like an annual or a follow-up, so we don't miss anything. If I'm giving them a call, I like to introduce myself and let them know why I'm calling. Most times they are open to talking with me. You just have to be yourself, calm, and professional. Little things like saying good morning make a difference.
Q: What's one piece of advice about HW360 you would give to a staff person who is new?
A: Take the key information from your training. Take a lot of notes and don't be afraid to reach out with questions. We all do the same kind of work, but we may approach it differently and that's okay.
Q: What else would you like to share?
A: When you have a great team and great management you can't fail. You have the support and collaboration, which is all you need. If you don't know something, just ask. Whether it's something big or small, we can figure it out together.
