As a client-centered, community-based organization, Housing Works is always looking for new ways to get connected and engage with our community. In the past year, Housing Works Community Healthcare has focused on increasing access to care through three main pathways: opening access for our existing clients to self-schedule visits with their provider, partnering with Zocdoc to engage new members of the community, and re-vamping our healthcare website.
First, we have made the process for our existing patients to schedule their visits easier than ever. We know that most people prefer to schedule online whenever possible, reducing the time spent scheduling and increasing control over their appointments. We have opened access to our providers’ schedules through the link on our website and our patient portal. This way, our patients can schedule when it is convenient for them, see more appointment availability, and update their appointments through a tap/click? on their phone.
We have also expanded our outreach to other members of the community by partnering with Zocdoc. Through Zocdoc, we are able to engage new patients who would otherwise not have had access to our providers, and make sure that our HIV, LGBTQIA+, and substance use specialists are accessible on a well-known platform so we can reach the members of our community that need access to our specialty care.
Finally, we have focused on revamping this healthcare website to provide more accurate, relevant, and updated information. We have reorganized our website to provide a better user experience and to highlight sections of our website that we know are most important to our community members. We have included more information about our supportive services and how to access them. With new sections like community news and detailed staff pages, we hope our community can be more informed of the work we are doing with the help of supporters, community members, staff members, clients, and patients like you!
