As a community-based health center with a lifelong focus on HIV prevention and care, Housing Works is constantly striving to make HIV medication accessible and convenient to every patient. Antiretroviral therapy (ART), also known as HIV medication, is a safe and reliable course of HIV treatment. Oral antiretroviral treatment has been available for decades, with daily pills allowing patients to remain virally suppressed and undetectable.

With the recent introduction of long-acting injectable medications (LAIs), many patients have the option to replace oral medication with bi-monthly injections. LAIs have become increasingly popular as alternatives to daily oral medication, offering patients an alternative to medication that otherwise requires daily adherence and pill storage. This can reduce the stress of self-administration and adherence, providing patients with a liberating alternative.

Housing Works has been at the forefront of providing LAIs in both psychiatric and primary care services, working to provide the best course of care for each patient. There are various treatment regimens available. Patients partner with their Housing Works provider to find the best treatment option for their needs.
