Dr. Poitevien serves as Chief Medical Officer for Housing Works. Dr. Poitevien is a board-certified physician trained in internal medicine and Infectious diseases with a specialty in HIV. Dr. Poitevien joined the Housing Works in 2005 following a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center. She completed her internal medicine residency at Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center. Dr. Poitevien has more than 20 years of experience in internal medicine and in treating HIV/AIDS. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish, which enables her to welcome adult patients from varied cultural backgrounds. Dr. Poitevien can diagnose and treat issues like hypertension, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and HIV/AIDS. She can prescribe PreP, PeP, and Suboxone for opioid dependence. Dr. Poitevien builds long-term relationships with her patients and is committed to her patient's well-being and improving their quality of life.
